Unmad

What’s inside Unmad

10 quick games for letting off steam, 6 ways to get comforted, and a place to write it down

Open Unmad, rate how mad you are, then pick a way out: Let it out, My brain won’t shut up, or Just comfort me. Each game takes a few dozen seconds. Rate it again after and see how far it dropped. Every screenshot here is the actual app.

Let it out

Take it out on something. Hard.

Slice the Noise: a phrase just sliced in half

Slice the Noise

One swipe cuts the stuff running through your head in half.

See one that bugs you? Swipe straight through it. The pieces can take another cut.

Smash This Crap: a slab reading “Read. No reply.” starting to crack

Smash This Crap

Write the thing down, then break it one hit at a time.

Tap for a normal hit, or hold and let go for a charged one. On the last hit the whole line blows apart.

Rage Bubbles: bubbles reading UGH, GRR and NO bouncing around

Rage Bubbles

Pop a string of bouncing bad feelings.

Pop. Pop. Pop. Don’t think about it.

Bin That Thought: a pop-up thought and the bin

Bin That Thought

Drag the pop-up in your head into the bin.

Drag it to the bin. No arguing.

Rip the Labels: a blob covered in labels like Toxic, Petty and Clingy

Rip the LabelsNew in 1.2.0

Every label they slapped on you. Rip it off.

Grab a corner and rip. Or write your own label and rip that one too.

My brain won’t shut up

Change the channel first.

Brain, Change the Channel: ketchup on eggs or absolutely not

Brain, Change the Channel

Pointless would-you-rathers to cut off the spiral.

Ketchup on eggs, or absolutely not? Don’t think. Just pick.

Look Around: find something you hadn’t noticed until now

Look Around

Send your eyes on patrol through the real world.

Find what it asks for, somewhere around you, and tap. No photo, no proof.

Tidy Something: clips, keys and receipts waiting to go in the pencil case, paper tray and little dish

Tidy Something

Drag the little mess back into its little home.

Clips, keys, receipts. Everything goes back where it belongs.

Tap for Merit: a wooden fish and mallet, with “Said nothing you’ll regret. +20”

Tap for Merit

Merit deposited. Rage balance dropping.

Light taps. Less replay.

Squish It: a fuming orange blob with five textures to pick from

Squish ItNew in 1.2.0

Press it, pinch it, watch it bounce back.

Press and hold, let go and it bounces right back. Switch between jelly, mochi, clay, water and crispy anytime.

Just comfort me

I don’t want to be reasonable right now.

Just comfort me: the comfort officer and six ways to get comforted
  • Dance It OffLeft! Right! Shake! Again! Put a song on and move to the beat.
  • Your MajestyTea · fans · no nonsense
  • Not Worth ItYour friend has your back.
  • WhateverNot-my-problem energy.
  • Unhinged ModeFeral thoughts. Zero filter.
  • I don’t want to hear from anyoneQuiet company. No talking.

When you’re not playing

Write it down. Don’t send it.

Say it to yourself first and it goes in your log. If it was meant for someone, give it a cool-down (5, 10 or 30 minutes) and decide when it’s up. Unmad has no send button, so nothing ever gets sent for you.

Cool-down log

It doesn’t count how often you got mad. It counts how often you pulled yourself back. Every day you bounce back, an officer goes on duty. No drama after 6 pm? Tap for a sunny stamp. There’s an award at the end of the month. No streaks.

Rage receipts

When a round’s done, put the crap on record: what they did, plus a line if you want. Every month gets its own receipt you can save as an image.

Officer guideNew in 1.2.0

Every officer you’ve met, plus holiday stamps and a few secrets you have to stumble on yourself.

Three quizzes

For when you’re not mad: your anger weather, your fight job, your attachment style. Save the result as an image. Just for fun, not a psych test.
